The Finch West LRT is a light rail transit project that will bring 11 kilometers of modern, reliable rapid transit to northwest Toronto. As a key partner in the Finch West LRT project, Dufferin Construction, a division of CRH Canada is looking for a Material Coordinator to join the team! We are one of the largest heavy civil engineering contractors in the industry, employing over 1000 people. Responsibilities:  LI-SS1

  • Understand Occupational Health and Safety standards, performance objectives & targets.
  • Responsible for implementing the Project Specific Quality Management System (QMS) at the office and the site level.
  • Monitor overall field and Quality Laboratory testing activities, ensuring that testing personnel with appropriate training, experience and skills are assigned in order to fully comply with the requirements of the QMS and Quality Management Plans (QMP).
  • Monitor materials for conformance to contract requirements.  Some key components of work include Asphalt, Structural Work, Electrical Work, Mechanical, Grading and Granular Placement.
  • Review and input of test results into the materials quality tracking system.
  • Identify positive and negative trends in quality test reports and results. Key materials include asphalt, concrete and granular.
  • Identify and report non-conformances.
  • Involved in development of corrective action strategies.
  • Ensure all required documentation is received prior to closing Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs).
  • Coordinate and monitor inputs from other professionals; Quality Verification Engineers, Consultants, Environmental, Designer.
  • Assist the Quality Control Manager in preparing quality reports.
  • Manage quality related correspondence and the dissemination of information to internal/external stakeholders.
  • Liaison between client, external stakeholders and JV.
  • Provide guidance to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
  • Understand and operate in accordance with company programs, policies and legislative requirements to ensure that environmental standards and performance objective targets are met.

Experience & Educational Requirements:

  • Civil Engineering Degree or Civil Engineering Technologist/Technician Diploma with related experience

  • Must have a valid G Driver’s license in good standing.
