Dufferin Construction Company, a division of CRH Canada Group Inc. established in 1912, is one of the largest heavy civil engineering contractors in the industry, and we are continuing to grow!  Due to continued and rapid growth within our Joint Ventures department, we are looking for a Procurement Administrator who will be responsible for providing support to the Procurement Manager for all phases of subcontractor and vendor recruitment on the Finch West LRT. This position is based out of the project office at Woodbridge, ON.

Dufferin Construction Company, a division of CRH Canada Group Inc. established in 1912, is one of the largest heavy civil engineering contractors in the industry, and we are continuing to grow!  Due to continued and rapid growth within our Joint Ventures department, we are looking for a Procurement Administrator who will be responsible for providing support to the Procurement Manager for all phases of subcontractor and vendor recruitment on the Finch West LRT. This position is based out of the project office at Woodbridge, ON.

Responsibilities:  #LI-SS1

  • Implement elements of the project procurement plan in accordance with approved corporate and or project policies, procedures, plans, strategy and budgets.
  • Develop Tender package lists in conjunction with project manager(s) and allocate budgets per the SCC Cost Estimate Format
  • Perform quantity take-offs from drawings as required and assist with preparation of budgets and cost reviews.
  • Assist in preparation of tender packages for specialty consultants, bridges, guideways, civil works and all Buildings related work per the Master format scopes of work.
  • Interface with project managers, contract administrations, design coordinators, buyers, expeditors, inspectors, materials controllers, transportation and logistics and other parties as required.
  • Direct communications with bidders, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, specialty consultants on all procurement related matters.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary bid inquiry documents, bid tabulations and vendor selection recommendations.
  • Take and issue accurate and concise minutes of Subcontractor meetings, and follow up with parties as required.
  • Assist in Contract negotiations and preparation, including with approvals of contract documents, subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Coordination of expediting, logistics and traffic with respect to the delivery of supplier equipment and materials delivered to site.

Qualifications:

  • Five years’ experience working in procurement and estimating.

  • Experience working in a construction environment is a requirement.

  • Networks and relationships with GTA subcontractors is a plus.

  • Post-secondary education and/or work experience in a related field.

  • Sound knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word and Excel.

  • Ability to use take-off measurement software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD and integrate with estimating spreadsheets. Working familiarity with civil estimating software such as Heavy Bid, Bid to Win, Hard Dollar etc is an asset.

  • Knowledge of procurement best practices, import regulations, competitive bidding, market conditions, general contract terms and conditions is required.

  • Additional experience within a specialty area is preferred – such as with Rail & Trackwork, Railway Systems vendors, Building trades & Building Interiors.Strong negotiation skills and analytical and problem-solving skills are required.

  • Results oriented with the ability to effectively manage and multi-task priorities, timelines and deadlines in a fast paced environment.

  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to assign and review work with peers as required and to direct Coop Students to assist in daily tasks

  • Able to perform in a fast paced environment and to traverse the 11-km project site alignment to meet with subcontractors as required.
