The Finch West LRT is a light rail transit project that will bring 11 kilometers of modern, reliable rapid transit to northwest Toronto. As a key partner in the Finch West LRT project, Dufferin Construction, a division of CRH Canada is looking for a Superintendent to join the team!   We are one of the largest heavy civil engineering contractors in the industry, employing over 1000 people. We have built a solid reputation for market excellence, through drawing on a rich history and a strong heritage of quality, stability and innovative leadership in the marketplace. 
Responsibilities:   #LI-SS1

  • Administer company safety program as per current procedures.
  • Mobilize and direct the resources assigned in order to achieve maximum contribution to fixed costs and profits.
  • Establish and monitor construction work schedules.
  • Allocate work to and supervise the activities of all Foremen assigned to the project.
  • Accurately forecasts financial status of assigned projects.
  • Maintain overall inventory control of all materials, plants and equipment assigned to the project.
  • Coordinate the administration of contracts in conjunction with the Estimator/ Project Coordinator.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Prepare all reporting as per current procedures.
  • Hire competent, skilled trades people as per current procedures.
  • Provide training and development activities to subordinates to meet the requirements of the company.
  • Delegate but still maintain overall responsibilities and accountability of the project.
  • Lead team to promote positive work environment.

Experience & Educational Requirements:

  • University degree in civil engineering or Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma.
  • 8 years of proven experience within the heavy civil market.
  • 3 years of leadership experience managing large scale projects and various levels of skilled workers
  • P3 project experience (Design-Build etc.) an asset.
